What is Raclette?
Raclette has more than one definition. Raclette is a Swiss cheese dish, a cultural landmark, the name of a cheese, a tabletop appliance, a dining experience, and a great time!
Raclette is very popular in Europe, especially in the Swiss Alps and other ski regions.
Back in the day, Swiss shepherds from the French-speaking Valais region needed to bring food up to the Alps that was relatively cheap and wouldn’t spoil easily in the hot summer months. So they brought cheese and potatoes. While the potatoes roasted in the fire, a big piece of cheese was put close to the fire. Once it started melting the cheese was taken away and scraped off the cheese onto the baked potatoes. This was not only filling and nourishing but also delicious. In French ‘to scrape’ translates to ‘racler’ and this is where the term Raclette comes from.

Bob Ross (1942–1995) was an iconic American painter, art instructor, and television host known for PBS's The Joy of Painting (1983–1994). A former Air Force Master Sergeant, he developed a calming, "wet-on-wet" technique to create serene landscapes quickly. His gentle, encouraging demeanor made art accessible, building a lasting legacy as "the happy painter".
Ever wanted to learn more about cider? We’re opening up the brain and the cellar of the man, the myth, the legend himself.
This hour-and-a-half class takes you through five ciders paired with house-made food, while Steve walks you through how each one is made and what makes it unique. You’ll hear directly from the person who tends the trees, harvests the fruit, and crafts every bottle - a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the art and science of small-production cidermaking. From orchard soil and local climate to fermentation and finish, you’ll discover what sets these ciders apart and why every sip reflects a deep commitment to quality over quantity. Bring your curiosity about apple growing and cidermaking. Steve will guide you through the tasting and answer your questions from orchard to bottle.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or just love a well-crafted drink, you’ll walk away with a whole new appreciation for what’s in your glass.
