Library Tasting @ South Hill Cider

  • South Hill Cider 550 Sandbank Road Ithaca, NY, 14850 United States (map)

For the very first time, we are opening up our cider library for a special tasting event of this beloved single orchard cider. We will be pouring 4 vintages of Stone Fence Farm for a vertical tasting. Come taste the difference between 4 vintages from the same orchard. Shall I say 'pommages' instead of 'vintages' because apples are 'pomme' fruits and grow on trees and not vines?

Stone Fence Farm was planted in Trumansburg, NY from 1995-2000 by the late, great Peter Hoover. The orchard hosts 50 trees on gravelly, loam soil. Peter was decades ahead of his time in many aspects of life, including in his cider making and orchard hobby. We have been managing this orchard for his widow, Peggy Haines, for eight years and making a single-orchard cider from this unique site since 2015.

This event will feature the 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021 vintages. Each tasting includes a 3 oz pour of each vintage plus a charcuterie board to pair with the ciders (vegetarian option available.) Bottles will be available to take home in limited quantities.

Bring your curiosity about cider making and apple growing! Steve and Della will be available to guide you through the tasting of these special ciders, as well as to answer questions about the process from orchard to bottle.

Cost: $55/person

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED for this event as tickets will be limited. South Hill Cider Club members receive their discount on the ticket price. Please email us for a discount ticket link.
