Fundraiser to benefit Open Doors English

  • South Hill Cider 550 Sandbank Road Ithaca, NY, 14850 United States (map)

Join us for an afternoon of music, food, and connection amid the beauty of South Hill Cider! A treat for all the senses! Live music by Travis Knapp and Six Mile Craic, delicious goodies at our international bake sale, and of course some scrumptious cider!

Donations accepted at the door; $20+ suggested.

All proceeds to benefit Open Doors English's English as a Second Language program, particularly to serve low-income students including new refugees from Afghanistan and Ukraine. Language is how we engage with our community, our work, our daily lives. Providing a place where students can build their English fluency and confidence is magical. Every dollar we raise opens so many doors of opportunity, community, friendship, and belonging.

Six Mile Craic is a group of musical friends who met playing Irish Trad Music Sessions. Along came the pandemic, sessions and life were shut down, but we found a way for our music to continue. With masks and great care, we evolved from an informal session group, to a full fledged Irish Music Band. Instrumentation includes Fiddles, Uilleann Pipes, Whistles, Mandocello, and “Guitandolin”!

Our band name was previously The Piperventilators...and you might know us by that name. With the pandemic, it was time for a change. We wanted a name that more accurately reflected the place we call home. 6 Mile Creek is one of Ithaca's most beautiful hiking areas. With our play on words, we are now "6 MILE CRAIC"; (Craic is a term in the Irish language, meaning "one
hellova good time!" So join us, one and all, for a good time...good
music....good friends.....good craic!
